Most approaches to psychotherapy and healing are pathologizing, which means they assume that people have disorders, deficits, diseases, or a lack of resources.
But this isn't true. People don't have mental health disorders. People have [[Parts]] that may have [[Burdens]]. These burdens may include behaviors that could be classified by the DSM as a mental health disorder. But this label doesn't define our parts: [[Parts are not their roles or burdens]].
[[IFS]] recognizes that we all have access to [[Self]], and [[Self provides all the resources we need to heal, grow, and thrive]]. While [[The constraints held by burdened parts prevent us from living an awakened life]], [[IFS helps us release burdens and constraints]].
