Rupert Spira is one of my main spiritual teachers. His background is in Advaita Vedanta and Tantric Shaivism. His main teacher was Francis Lucille. He uses a [nondual](Nonduality) approach. He makes arguments against materialism that I don't think are sound or necessary for awakening. See: [[Current nondual explanations of the nature of reality are bad]] and [[Awakening is experientially understanding the true nature of experience]]. There are some other problems with his approach: [[Nondual teachings can be co-opted by parts]]. However, I think he is among the best at describing and pointing students toward the true nature of experience.
He recommends practicing [[True meditation]] (or at least something like it), [[Self-Inquiry]], and what he calls [yoga meditation](https://rupertspira.com/non-duality/introduction-to-yoga-meditation) (which have a Tantric influence), all of which have helped me immensely and I recommend as well.
Rupert Spira offers [online and in-person meetings and retreats](https://rupertspira.com/events). He has written many great books: [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/stores/Rupert-Spira/author/B00J4K01NI?ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1&qid=1723827392&sr=1-1&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true). But I think his best offerings are on his [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/@rupertspira).
