Surrender means many things in the context of [[Awakening]]. And surrender is crucial both for the initial recognition of one's true [[Self]], and for living [[An awakened life]]. We must surrender: - Effort and doing: [[Awakening is relaxing effort, not exerting it]] - Agendas: [[Self has no agenda]] - Answers: [[Awakening isn't something for the mind to understand]] - Identities, stories, burdens, and roles - Seeking and resistance - To reality, pain, and trauma And it's not our [[Self]] that needs to surrender, but our [[Parts]]. [[Spiritual practices and experiences can help parts temporarily relax, but this can be problematic]], but [[Parts won't surrender their burdens until they feel it's safe to]]. To surrender, I think one must be sincere: [[True spiritual practice is sincere investigation of our experience]].
