Some spiritual practices encourage us to focus inward, either on an object of [[Awareness]] like the breath or the context of awareness ([[Self]]), the the exclusion of all other objects (or the world). Some practices go further by encouraging us to spend time in quiet places of retreat away from the world.
All of this can be helpful. However, the objects of awareness are awareness. [[It's all awareness]]. Recognizing this experientially can help to realign our thoughts, feelings, and perceptions with the [nondual](Nonduality) understanding. [[Rupert Spira]]'s yoga meditations (influenced by Tantric Shaivism) have helped me a great deal with this process.
