[[Awakening is experientially understanding the true nature of experience]]. In other words, [[Awakening]] is recognizing our true [[Self]]. [[The true purpose of spirituality is to awaken]]. Most spiritual paths recognize this, however, [[Most spiritual paths are indirect]].
Indirect spiritual paths offer a progression of preliminary practices to train things like concentration, morality, and wisdom until you have attained the states and qualities required for [[Awakening]]. However, [[You don't need to train your mind, concentration, morality, or wisdom to awaken]].
You can go directly to the [Nondual](Nonduality) nature of experience simply by examining your experience with sincerity, curiosity, and openness. However, nondual teachings and pointers don't work immediately for everyone: [[Thinking parts can make nondual practices and teachings seem ineffective]].
It can also be much easier to recognize and rest as when parts aren't highly activated, as the thoughts and feelings of [[Parts]] obscure Self. See: [[IFS relaxes parts which obscure Self]].
